The Fogline is closing in on its one-year anniversary. I can still remember our very first post about Spooky Season in the Inner Richmond like it was yesterday. Larry and I have had a wonderful experience getting to know our community and city on a deeper level. Whether we were writing about a new cafe or taking a deep dive into transit issues on Geary Boulevard, every issue has been a learning experience and a pleasure to produce.

We decided we had better celebrate, so we set out to explore the reopened Vista Point Trail, a historic trail that had been closed in the late ‘90s during the Golden Gate Bridge seismic upgrade. Then we enjoyed a brunch at Sula at Cavallo Point Lodge.

Walking The New Vista Point Trail

This week we decided to take advantage of the warm weather and blue skies to walk the newly opened Vista Point Trail connecting the north side of the Golden Gate Bridge with Fort Baker and Sausalito in Marin County.

SFbike.org recently published a report on the newly completed Vista Point Trail, a celebration for Bay Area bikers (and walkers) wanting a safer and easier way into the Sausalito area with all of the sweeping views along the way. The path helps cyclists and pedestrians avoid Alexander Avenue, which can be a dangerous route. The trail completion also helps close a gap in the Bay Trail that rings San Francisco and San Pablo bays.

We walked the trail ourselves, mapped it out, and took pictures along the way.

Valkyries Boohalla House in the Inner Richmond

Like many of you, we’ve been cheering on the Valkyries as they play for the championship. But some Inner Richmond residents have gone all out and created a Halloween-themed Boohalla House to show their support. The house, located at 3rd Avenue between Clement and California has drawn visitors from all over the Bay Area.

As you probably know, the team is tied 1-1 with the Atlanta Dream in the WNBA Finals. The next two games are away in Atlanta, and there are watch parties scheduled throughout the city. If you want to cheer on the Valkyries with a crowd tonight, there a free watch party at Salesforce Park and a paid watch party at the Chase Center, or you can catch the game at one of the many bars showing it.
